Elder Patriot – If you want to know just how treacherous the swamp President Trump has found himself fighting against is you need look no further than the recent effort asking for a congressional hearing to hold Special Counsel Robert Mueller accountable.
In a letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles Grassley those demanding that Mueller’s witch-hunt be reigned in wrote:
Whatever side of the aisle you find yourself on, you have to fear giving anyone the kind of unfettered power to operate in secrecy the way Mueller has been empowered to do. This is reminiscent of the East German Stasi not something we would expect in the United States:
Mueller and his team have been systematically leaking to the mainstream media on a regular basis without regard for the truth or for the rights of those they’ve interviewed. This includes pre-dawn raids at gunpoint seeking evidence against potential targets.
You would think that a letter making this request would be signed by an overwhelming percentage of the president’s own party and even a few members of the opposing party if they still valued America’s Founding Principles.
You’d be wrong.
Texas Representative Brian Babin began asking for his colleagues’ support in August. When the letter was sent on October 13th it only had 19 signatories to it.
“With numerous reports emerging almost every day on possible conflicts of interest and allegations of political bias, it would be in the interest of both the public and the Special Counsel team to speak to the American people through their elected representatives in Congress.”
Notably missing from this letter is the signature of Paul Ryan or any member of his leadership team.
It is exactly the tone-deafness that the acceptance of Mueller’s team practices has been met with by the other 416 members of Congress that carried Donald Trump to the White House.
And, it is exactly why Steve Bannon is predicting a wave election in 2018 that will remake the House in even greater numbers than the 2010 “Tea Party” election that resulted in 63 seats changing from Democrat to Republican. The difference this time will be conservative Republicans replacing RINO’s well before the November elections ever come into view.
